This studio consists of one project based on precedents analysis, addressing fundamental principles of interior design and shedding the light on major theoretical frameworks that shaped the discipline. The project focuses on a medium scale intervention on a space on the university campus, that needs to be revisited or repurposed. Based on the work of a particular architect/designer, and the analysis of a canonical project addressing fundamental principles of design, the students will revisit the given spaces with an attempt to shed the light on consideration such as balance, alignment, contrast, emphasis, repetition and proportions in interior spaces. An emphasis on the user experience and movement within the interior space will also be addressed triggering a discussion about sequencing of spaces, thresholds, quality of light, views and dialogues between indoor and outdoor spaces.
