The Rufer House by Adolf Loos stands as an architectural masterpiece, exemplifying spatial efficiency, cubist design, and rhythmic composition of facades.
l’ve incorporated the elements highlighted in the analysis, into a unique relaxing area within a building of offices, Bassil hall, on campus. The space is meticulously designed to serve as a retreat for reading, listening to music, and watching movies on a projector including a small kitchenette. The spatial qualities enforced by Raumplan ensure an efficient use of space, creating a seamless flow between different activities within the area.
The cubist design and order provide a sense of structure and clarity, enhancing the overall aesthetics and functionality of the relaxing space. The rhythmic composition of facades is translated into the interior, creating a visually dynamic environment that resonates with the interior needs for lighting as well as with the surrounding office spaces. Choosing a relaxing area in an office building reflects the evolving nature of work environments, acknowledging the importance of relaxation and leisure within professional settings.
The presence of a relaxing area within offices can help employees to reducing stress levels, promoting mental well-being and enhancing productivity. This design not only pays homage to the Rufer House but also adapts its principles to modern needs, offering a balanced and inspiring space for both work and leisure.
