INSPIRED BY HELEM

As I studied the Helem room at Beit Tamanna, developed its mood and granted my personal interpretation, I started working on my new program which is located in the Orme Gray Building. This project´s aim is to choose three offices and design a space for four desks and a main gathering room. The space was designed, in my case, for counseling, taking inspiration from the precedent. The first thing I did was to create a safe space for both the employees and the students. In order to do this, I created two different circulation, one specifically for the students and the other only for the employees. From the precedent, I took two main ideas: the transitional area and the box. Many strong transitional areas are present. A play between dynamic and static places. Time is delayed. These transitional areas allow the user to be prepared for the space they enter. Lastly, I used the idea of a box, but in this case, it’s an island isolated from the rest of the space. The idea of a dream was translated into a box, taking us to another place. However, the space where the private session is located is isolated in the middle of the space, creating an island that is isolated from the rest, like a box inside another box, surrounded by the four facets of the whole building making the whole space isolated from the rest.
