INSPIRED BY THE BLUE ROOM

The final design of the Orme Gray offices is based on the Blue Room hotel analysis, project by Marc Dibeh. The new offices will be refurbished to house two research units with two head researchers and four junior assistants. The design focuses on symmetry, axiality, and the colors blue and red. Initially, the spaces appear asymmetric, but as the model is viewed from different angles, the underlying symmetry becomes evident. Each unit has its own assigned staircase which works as a typology of office design. Moreover, the units share a space on the lower floor, with a mezzanine above for the junior assistants. Additionally, the junior assistants have a shared pathway for interaction and office utilities on the upper level. The assigned spaces can be shown in the colored plans and sections that emphasize the symmetry yet the asymmetry of the spaces. The stenciling, along with the technical plans, highlights the axiality and alignment of the furniture with the façade, defined by unit-assigned colors. The diagram shows the furniture reflecting the façade’s triangular elements.
