BOURJ HAMMOUD SOCIAL CENTERS
The studio highlights the important role interior designers can play in improving the spatial quality of the environment, positively impacting residents’ daily lives while addressing issues such as space scarcity, safety, and hygiene. The site is located in Bourj Hammoud, particularly in the Nabaa area. This neighborhood faces significant challenges, including high population density, low socioeconomic conditions, infrastructural decay, and limited access to essential urban services, resulting in substandard living conditions.
NGOs are particularly active in the area, working on small-scale projects aimed at improving health, education and women empowerments. This studio will focus on repurposing two vacant buildings into social centers as hubs for NGO activities; These centers will serve the community with uncommon possibilities and space permutations. The program should include a range of facilities for NGO offices, social services, and additional spaces that promote economic development, social growth, improving gender equality, environmental enhancement, child safety, and youth empowerment—ultimately fostering social stability and improving livelihood opportunities.
