MEDSTAY RESIDENCE

betty razzouk

This healthcare project envisions a rejuvenating escape within the conventional medical setting. Targeted at medical tourists visiting Lebanon, this Airbnb, originally constructed by Dr. Jamil Kanaan in the 1930s, embraces its art deco roots. Focused on preserving the original design, I incorporated a distinctive drop beam shape into the floor plan, guiding spatial division. Each room ensures privacy with individual bathrooms and spacious walk-in showers. Inspired by the Maggie Center philosophy, the space utilizes biophilic materials and promotes community by providing shared areas for interaction and conversation. This oasis of healing redefines the healthcare experience, transcending sterile environments and fostering a sense of well-being for those seeking medical care in Lebanon.
