BEIRUT RIVER CATERING HUB

tamara nasr + hisham othman

The project brief brought us to bridge between two neighborhoods in Beirut through an innovative program developed through urban analysis of the area. Our proposal was a regenerative catering hub bridging over the Beirut River; a space where food could be grown through a hydroponic system, cooked on site by independent caterers, and sold in modular market stations. The space between the market stations provides high-quality green spaces for visitors with various points of gathering, play and rest. We used a truss system which serves as both a highly efficient hydroponic farming structure and a potent means to span long distances economically. The riverbed, which was previously a dead inaccessible.
