The sawada creation hub is a project that bridges the meta and the physical. It is a location that houses the future of art through a platform that allows the collaboration between physical artists and digital ones. the building serves the artists of Nakanojo as well as all artists that aspire to draw what art can become. This new hub turns Nakanojo from a small village to a virtual market for fine art.
In addition to its main function this hub doubles as a station for the new cable car system implemented in the village. This sys-tem transports art, crops and people while it displays the new art created in the hub. Through this system the whole village transforms into a walking museum for all visitors to enjoy while doing their daily routes.
This project takes place in the former sawada school that got reshaped through an architectural insertion. The new language carves through the building to create spaces and platforms that create artistic inspirations to its users. In addition to that a 135m bridge open to the public that crosses the Shima river connects this once secluded building to the main village; and creates hanging studios in the middle of Nakanojo’s scenic nature.
