Tamles -inability to see clearly- is a critical tight cluster located facing Corniche el Mazraa, in Tariq el Jdideh. The area is on the edge of death, severely divided and in a need of instant intervention. Several urban strategies where implemented in order to connect the area together, increase the interactions between its residents and resuscitate it. The main project was introduced on the entrance of Tamles as an anchor point to increase the accessibility and visibility towards the inner side. The project’s strategy was inspired by the site distinct characteristics where the main urban promenades loop around the mass creating voids, connections and spaces to meet. The physical and visual connections shape the project with a duality between the interactions with Corniche el Mazraa and Tamles. The intervention offers the neighborhood entertainment spaces for all age groups, works on the social, cultural and political issues of Tamles through counseling, debate halls or performing spaces in hope to give it back life.
