STITCH 5.0

Inclusive and self-sufficient neighborhoods: a major catalyst in connecting communities and removing the divisions within our cities. Beirut has always been a hub of separation. But lately after the tragedies and economic crisis happening in the country the divisions metamorphosed to on the micro-scale of the neighborhood, in the way these neighborhoods’ function. The division is seen in adjacent streets and neighborhoods. It is in the inequalities happening within the same households, in the way our neighborhoods work alone and together, it is how our streets are supporting our needs and activities. The problems are from the core of this living machine. The change should start from deep within for us to see change on the scale of the city. These less fortunate neighborhoods shall be self-sufficient and inclusive in order to attract people from different target groups to this area while making sure the spatial justice of its own residents is achieved.
Stitch5.0 is based on redefining the idea of production and industrial architecture; creating an attractive, innovative and human centric landmark within the neighborhood. It is a space where the human’s needs, personal and economic growth, innovation and wellbeing is the central focus. It’s a garment factory featuring innovative and advanced spaces focusing on the interplay between human, nature and the machinery creating a timeless space.
