A Bridge is a structure built to Span a Physical Obstacle… its Purpose is to build a Connection.
In Lebanon, we have several Pedestrian Bridges, and as we move to the Heart of the City, we mainly have Crosswalks. However, there is a Break in the Urban Fabric in a Transitional Space from the Highway to the city lacking a Connection. It falls in Mar Mikhail facing the Port, where the Highway acts as an Edge separating the Port from the City…
The Purpose of this Project is to Break this Boundary by creating a Connection above the Charles Helou highway, located specifically at the end of the Fouad Boutros Park, Slopping Underground creating an extension of the Park where it is surrounded by a Library and a Coffee shop, and Sloping above the highway Bridging over it, Cantilevered, creating a Visual Connection to the Port on a Conceptual Level (since the port cannot be accessed), standing on three Major Columns connected with Cables.
