When requested to explore the site in Achrafieh, “Hay Al- Serian” revealed itself to me as a city built by the people and for the people. As a result, the idea was to develop dwellings where a happy community resides, rather than a mere succession of houses. “Behind the Void” is a project inspired by the urban void, with the intention to intimately explore it, read the stories written within its walls, and thereby translate the narratives into a humane architecture that remains true to the social fabric of the site. In this way, this project gave birth to an authentic architecture conceived with and harnessed by the residents themselves.
