THE TIME CAPSULE

In transforming the Lion Tower into a cinema art center, my goal was to merge its rich history with the enchantment of cinema. Cinema’s power to transcend time inspired me to create an experience that seamlessly connects the past and future within this historic structure.
To achieve this, I designed new, separate entrances and virtual pathways, guiding visitors on a time-traveling journey from the moment they enter. Inside, I introduced modern, detached spaces and elements that represent the future while preserving the integrity of the original architecture.
To highlight the contrast between eras, I established two distinct circulation patterns: clockwise for the future, featuring LED screens, VR, and holography in modern materials, and counterclockwise for the past, which remains untouched, serving as cultural sanctuaries.
The present experience is centered on the second floor and rooftop, where the main cinema screen is located. The rooftop cinema provides an open-air experience in good weather, and if conditions change, the screen can retract to the glazed second floor, allowing guests to enjoy films and refreshments from the adjacent bar.
