LIMBLESS BUT BOUNDLESS

haya hammoud

Furn el Chebback, a town where many were born and raised, holds unnoticed bits and pieces that give it its essence. What if this town became a safe place for the transients, offering safety and belonging? Investigating Furn el Chebback, the bordering highway on the east stood out, dividing atmospheres and amputating buildings. The project, located on a highway plot, considers how amputation, breaking and changing places, can be necessary for growth. The design features units multiplied and assembled to create residential, communal, farming and green zones and workspaces. This design incorporates the rhythm of street openings and caters to transients, providing the experience of living in ‘boundless’ Furn el Chebback despite its amputations.
