An interface is usually a point where two systems, subjects, organizations, etc. meet and interact and sakiet al janzeer was just that, a collage of different urban fabrics colliding to form this interesting square. The project site was a meeting point between the squares urban fabric and a small neighborhood behind with the qualities of a little village. To avoid disrupting the existing flows and fabrics, each façade of this project projects and communicates with the respective ambience of the different environments in addition to a space in the lower part of the building that acts as the point of intersection between the two sides. The front façade mirrors the facades around surrounding it in the square and create the missing limit that was the empty plot while the back façade is a disconnected vertical circulation and social structure connected to the building translating and recreating what existed in the neighborhood.
And most importantly; as architecture is not 3 dimensional but a 4 dimensional discipline, the 4th dimension being time; the effect of time was taken into consideration with every design choice. This building is a regular frame made in such a way as to be a blank canvas allowing the progression of time to create a dynamic colorful painting reflecting the life within this frame. All renders and even the model reflect how the project is supposed to end up looking after being inhabited.
A regular structural system and plan outline were placed in the beginning to regularize this project in its irregular site and within this grid all of the different details and parts of this project were birthed. The plans were articulated in the logic of different organizations of cells and continuous circulation to maintain flexibility within the frame.
The frame houses the flourishing of irregular life within it in this interface, a project that is intended to simply create a system that isn’t limiting or disrupting to the flow of life.
