There are two factors that threatening Batroun’s identity. First, the greenery in the area is slowly fading away with time, an aspect that was always part of it. Second, the traditional, historical architectural typologies are going extinct and are being replaced by more modern buildings and additions.
Since the program proposed requires to house the visitors as well as a special function, an analysis was conducted to know what is Batroun lacking. The results show that there is usually a dynamic, high, commercial and touristic activity where archeology is present in the site.
The aim was to solve the problem of Batroun’s fading identity by looking an area that had an agricultural/green aspect as well as an archeological site and an old structure that would reflect the original image of Batroun.
Eventually, a museum was chosen as the special function to exhibit the archeology and architecturally extend to the old structure in the plot, all while not hindering the area’s archeology and greenery.
