CAPTURING THE COSMOS

The 4×4 House of Tadao Ando was designed to respond to very specific site constraints. A problem-solving approach resulted in a vertical monolithic structure where a very present staircase takes the user up to a prominent cube stacked on top.
Using a similar approach, the project is designed to be a vertical journey culminating in a suspended observatory. Each level has a specific educational program (reception, study area, small library) to finally reach the observatory leaving the visitor in complete synergy with the outer sky. Circulation is very distinct between one floor and the other, consciously allowing the user to feel the vertical movement, the stacking of floors and the transcendence when reaching the top.
